    Timothy H. Lucas, II, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and serves as the Co-Director of the Penn Center for Neuro-Engineering and Therapeutics, the Director of Translational Neuromodulation Laboratory at Penn Medicine, the Surgical Director of the Penn Epilepsy Center and the Director of the Penn Center for Laser Neurosurgery. Dr. Lucas received his medical degree from the University of Florida. He trained in neurological surgery at the University of Washington, where he also obtained his PhD. He completed neurosurgical subspecialty training in London, England and at the University of California San Francisco in brain mapping, epilepsy and tumor surgery. Dr. Lucas’ clinical practice focuses on patients with seizure disorders and brain tumors. He has pioneered novel surgical approaches and published extensively on brain mapping techniques. His translational research program develops devices to restore movement to patients suffering with paralysis. His lab has received funding from National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, and other agencies.
